  My children we not safe while at Creative Critters. In addition to chronic understaffing/turnover and not having the proper child/adults ratios, fire drills are not performed on a monthly regular basis, even though their records state otherwise. In fact, an employee confided that in the two years she worked there she had NEVER observed or participated in a evacuation drill! We brought our concerns to the attention of the manager AND the owner. Both women had a hostile response and accused us of “not trusting them”. My children’s safety trumps their feelings, and adhering to safety standards is the law. Recording drills and actually performing them are to very different things. Finally, there was an alleged child mistreatment event that caused CPS, the state, and the police to investigate. That was the final straw. I immediately moved my children to another day care and was shocked at the difference. Lower staff turnover, compassionate care, strict safety protocols, and most importantly, a center director who understood the importance of providing a safe, loving, educational environment for babies and toddlers to grow and thrive.
